Breath...More than Air in our Lungs

Light and life from silence woke

When the breath of God Almighty spoke.

Through God-breathed words our world began,

Then God breathed life into dust-formed man.

Ezekiel spoke as God said to restore,

And dry bones arose, breathing life once more.

Prophetic wind swept across the land,

A miracle of breath obeyed divine command.

With breath, Christ spoke, and storms grew still,

With breath, He breathed the Spirit’s will.

In the book of John, Christ’s breath unfolds.

The Spirit is given, God does not withhold.

Breath fills the weak, revives the worn,

Restores the heart that’s hurt and torn.

It fills our lungs, sustains our days,

It sings loud songs, or whispers praise.

Yet breath betrays our anxious strife,

It quickens as we feel the fears of life.

But slow and deep, we find release,

We find a pathway back to peace.
